Student Writer: The William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications is seeking a talented and highly motivated student writer to work in the school’s communications office. This is an outstanding opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism, communications, writing, public relations or marketing. The writer will assist the communications coordinator in writing stories for the Jayhawk Journalist alumni magazine and press releases for the School of Journalism. The writer also will assist in creating content for the website, recruitment brochures, fliers and social media campaigns. The student writer also may attend events and activities to provide coverage and may entail some general office assistance. Work hours are very flexible, but will be Monday – Friday, between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Apply here.
Recruiting Assistant: The William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications is seeking a highly motivated and outgoing student assistant to work with the school’s recruitment coordinator and communications coordinator. This is an outstanding opportunity for a student who is interested in pursuing a career in journalism, strategic communication, social media, public relations or marketing/advertising. The student assistant will work with the communications coordinator and recruitment coordinator in creating messaging to encourage prospective students to apply to the School of Journalism. Messaging will including social media campaigns, fliers, brochures, advertisements, recruitment materials, programs, postcards or in-person events. The student assistant also may be required to attend campus activities to provide assistance to the communications/recruiting team. The position also may entail some general office assistance. Office Assistant: Opening the fall semester in the Journalism School Resource Center, to assist the School's Resource Center Coordinator, Business Manager and/or Executive Assistant to the Dean in a variety of areas. Duties include, but are not limited to: telephone, reception and screening, greeting visitors and resolving and/or referring inquires, assisting faculty, staff and students with equipment, running errands, setting up new files, maintaining files, photocopying, and other duties as assigned.
